The Aboriginal Firefighters Association of Canada (AFAC) was first formed in 1991 and is currently comprised of First Nations Fire & Emergency Services organizations that represent regional components across Canada.
The core purpose of AFAC remains to establish a standardized associated body of First Nations fire officials to improve conditions of fire prevention, fire suppression training and fire department capacity.
The current services and support offered by AFAC include;

Providing fire prevention resources & information to regional associations.

Managing the National Fire Fighter Competition.

Managing the National Poster Contest for First Nations Schools.

Supporting regional association as required.

Supporting the identification and evolution of national fire standards to reduce the loss of life and infrastructure on reserve.

Support the development of a National First Nations Fire Protection Strategy.

Support the collaboration and information sharing between regional First Nation associations.
